First crafted in 1929 by The Young & Smylie Confectionery Company, Twizzlers stayed under the radar until the 1960s. Then their popularity soared, and in 1997 Hershey Foods Corporation acquired Y&S, making Twizzlers an official Hershey’s brand.

Legend has it Neil Armstrong’s second words after stepping on the Moon were, “I wouldn’t mind a Twizzler right now.” In 1998, Twizzlers set a Guinness World Record for the longest candy ever made—a 365-meter twist weighing over 45 kg!
